Welcome!

This is the page of Christiane Wölfel. Here you can find examples of my work, it covers interaction design, physical prototyping, video editing, 3D modeling, art installation and other things I did that you should know about. You can also find out a bit more about me, my studies, previous workplaces, etc. Enjoy!

projects

These are examples of the interactive and digital systems I have developed so far. Most of them were group projects at university.

  • Snopes

Snopes is an interactive toy for children, which was developed for the course Shape Changing Interfaces, 2012 at AU. Our aim was to create a toy that inspires children's imagination and movement through interactive texture. We implemented a prototype to test our ideas and concepts.

  • Interactive Todos

The Interactive Todos were developed in the course Building Interactive Objects, 2012 at LMU. They allow to organize tasks depending on their priority. The elements can recognize each other and will adjust their color according to their position relative to the others. http://interactiveobjects.tumblr.com/

  • multifunctional steering wheel MAN

    Bachelor Thesis

I wrote my Bachelor Thesis Interaction Concept for a Multi-Function Steering Wheel - Improvement for TFT-Displays in Trucks in collaboration with MAN Truck & Bus AG, Munich. The thesis started with a research about the state of the art and a survey on truck drivers. Based on the gathered data concept were formed. Three of them were implemented as rapid prototypes and then tested. Thus the concepts could be evaluated and a recommendation for further development was given.
I continued to work on this and similar topics as a working student afterwards.

  • Zauberstab

The idea was to regulate the temperature of a cooker without being interrupted in the workflow of cooking. Therefore a spoon was developed, which would allow to adjust the cooker just by holding it in or over the pot. The pots can be freely arranged on the induction cook top.
We developed a prototype in the course NEFF Design Workshop, 2012, a cooperation between the universities LMU and HM and the company NEFF.

videos

Those are short videos that I did at university or in my free time.

  • Kafka's Cat

This short animation movie resulted from the course 3D Modellierung mit Blender, 2012 at LMU. The idea was to interpret the short story A Little Fable by Franz Kafka. For the 3D modeling and animation Blender was used.

  • Gif animation butterfies

    Schmetterlinge

With this experimental animation I wanted to find out about the expressiveness of gif animations, which normally have a rather bad reputation especially in web design. Still the restrictions given through the low frame rate and color range can create an aesthetic impression.

art

Here examples of my artistic work are shown.

  • art project

    Wo stehst du?

This interactive installation was created in the course Künstlerisch Mediales Projekt, 2012 at LMU. Two beamers are used to project images on the audience. The images split up in two halves, thus the whole image is only visible if the person stands on the right spot.

  • photography bird

    Photography

I like to play with the possibilities digital photography has to offer. A slight variation in color can change the whole atmosphere of an image. When I'm working with photographs I do not enhance a picture, I rather try to create a new image, which does not only show objects and persons but which evokes emotions.

travel

Places where I lived for a longer time...

  • building in aarhus

    Aarhus - Denmark

Right now I'm living in the beautiful city Aarhus. I'm studying here as an erasmus student for half a year at the computer science department.

  • kitchen in the jungle

    Ecuador

I went to Ecuador after finishing school in 2007. There I attended spanish classes in Quito first and after that I did volunteer work, living with an indigenous family near Puyo.

about me

So, who am I then?

profil picture

I'm a computer science student with a big interest in arts and creative work. I like to explore new things, try out ideas and build physical stuff to have a hands-on experience.
For now I know that I want to work in the area of human computer interaction, but I also want to try out different things in that area. That's why I'm in Denmark right now, seeing how HCI is taught in a different country.
